Faisalabad: Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has placed its operations staff on high alert by deploying field teams at designated points and activating all disposal stations and dewatering machinery to ensure prompt drainage of rainwater.
WASA spokesman said here on Monday that WASA Managing Director Engineer Saqib Raza, taking precautionary measures in view of the weather forecast, directed all field staff to remain present at their assigned points and closely monitor the situation in their respective areas.
He said that Gulshan-e-Colony and Allama Iqbal Colony received the highest rainfall of 15 millimeters (mm) each on Monday morning while Madina Town recorded 14 mm rain, Ghulam Muhammad Abad 13 mm, Dogar Basti and Jail Road 12 mm each and Gulistan Colony 11 mm rainfall.
WASA managing director directed the staff to operate all disposal stations at full capacity so that rainwater could be drained without delay from low-lying and vulnerable areas.
He said that all available machinery including dewatering sets had been made operational as part of the agency’s preparedness plan to deal with rainfall and prevent water accumulation on roads and in residential areas.
Engineer Saqib Raza directed the operations staff to remain vigilant and respond promptly to any drainage-related complaint, stressing that all necessary resources had been mobilized to facilitate citizens during the rainy spell.
WASA teams would continue monitoring the drainage system and take immediate measures wherever required to ensure smooth drainage of rainwater, he added.

Providing rainfall statistics recorded early Monday morning, the spokesman shared that Gulshan-e-Colony and Allama Iqbal Colony received the highest rainfall at 15 millimeters (mm) each, followed by Madina Town at 14 mm, Ghulam Muhammad Abad at 13 mm, Dogar Basti and Jail Road at 12 mm each, and Gulistan Colony at 11 mm.
The Managing Director directed field staff to run disposal stations at maximum capacity to prevent water stagnation in low-lying pockets and main arterial roads. He added that all available dewatering units have been deployed as part of the agency’s contingency plan.
Engineer Saqib Raza instructed the operations wing to address drainage complaints without delay, emphasizing that all administrative and operational resources have been mobilized to avoid public hardship during the wet spell. WASA monitoring teams will remain in the field until all accumulated rainwater is fully drained.
