Woman sentenced to 15 years, accomplice to 20 years in drug case

Lahore: A sessions court on Wednesday sentenced a woman to 15 years in prison and her accomplice to 20 years for possessing 30 kilograms of charas and five kilograms of opium.



Additional District and Sessions Judge Mansoor Anwar announced the verdict after the prosecution established the charges against the convicts, Sehrish Mahmood and Ilyas.



The court also imposed a collective fine of Rs1.3 million on the two convicts.



Prosecutor Ahmad Qamar Bhatti, advocate, produced witnesses and other evidence in support of the prosecution case.



Following the announcement of the verdict, police took both convicts into custody and shifted them to jail.



The two convicts had been arrested by the Quaid-e-Azam Industrial Area police in connection with the recovery of the narcotics from the area.
