Lahore: At least 14 people were killed and 1,622 others injured in 1,330 road traffic crashes reported across Punjab during the last 24 hours.
According to the Emergency Services Department (ESD), Rescue 1122 teams responded to the road traffic crashes in all 38 districts of the province. Of the injured, 730 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 892 victims with minor injuries were provided treatment at the accident sites by rescue medical teams.
The analysis showed that the victims included 883 drivers, 54 underage drivers, 168 pedestrians and 585 passengers.
Lahore remained at the top with 272 road traffic crashes involving 343 people, followed by Multan with 81 crashes and 95 victims, while Faisalabad ranked third with 74 crashes involving 83 victims.
A total of 1,493 motorcycles, 99 auto-rickshaws, 150 motorcars, 20 vans, 13 passenger buses, 26 trucks and 73 other vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in the crashes.
The spokesperson urged road users to strictly follow traffic laws and lane discipline and adopt responsible driving practices to help prevent road traffic crashes and save precious lives.
