Mirpurkhas: Pakistan Army soldier Abdul Shakoor Panhwar, who was martyred in a terrorist attack in Bela district of Balochistan, was laid to rest with full military honours in his hometown of Mirpurkhas on Thursday.

His funeral prayers were offered on Public School Road and attended by Pakistan Army officers, Senior Superintendent of Police Syed Fida Hussain Shah, political, social and religious leaders, and a large number of local residents. Following the prayers, the martyr was buried at the Military Graveyard, where a Pakistan Army contingent presented a ceremonial salute in recognition of his sacrifice in the line of duty.

A large crowd gathered to pay its respects, with mourners expressing solidarity with the bereaved family and offering prayers for the martyr’s eternal peace. Family members displayed resilience during the funeral as condolences poured in from officials and members of the public.

Speakers at the ceremony paid tribute to the fallen soldier, describing the nation’s martyrs as a source of pride whose sacrifices for Pakistan’s security and defence would be remembered with honour and gratitude.

Dera ismail khan: Additional Deputy Commissioner (Finance and Planning) Dera Ismail Khan, Adnan Khan, visited the sites of the under-construction flyover projects to review the pace and quality of work.

During the visit, he was accompanied by the Assistant Commissioner, Dera Ismail Khan and officials of the relevant departments.

The ADC conducted a detailed inspection of the ongoing construction and directed the concerned authorities to ensure timely completion of the projects so that the public could benefit from the improved traffic infrastructure at the earliest.

Officials of the executing and relevant departments briefed him on the progress achieved so far and the remaining work.

During the inspection, the meeting also reviewed administrative and technical issues, including the relocation of utility services. The ADC instructed the concerned departments to resolve all outstanding issues without delay to ensure uninterrupted progress and completion of the projects within the stipulated time frame.

Chiniot: Authorities in Chiniot swiftly completed rainwater drainage operations after 35 millimetres of rainfall lashed the city, with district officials directing civic agencies to remain on high alert throughout the monsoon season.

According to the district administration, all WASA Chiniot teams were mobilised immediately after the rainfall on Thursday, while field staff carried out drainage operations across the city. The prompt response helped clear water accumulated in various localities and restore normal conditions, providing relief to residents.

Deputy Commissioner Ayesha Rizwan, accompanied by Administrator and Managing Director Suthra Punjab Wasiq Abbas Haral, the Managing Director of WASA, the Manager of Suthra Punjab, the Chief Officer Municipal Committee and other officials, visited several areas to review drainage, sanitation and disposal operations. The deputy commissioner praised the field staff for their timely response and dedication.

During the inspection, Ayesha Rizwan directed all relevant departments to maintain round-the-clock preparedness during the monsoon season by keeping personnel and machinery fully operational. She said ensuring public convenience during heavy rains remains the district administration’s top priority and warned that any negligence in drainage or sanitation arrangements would not be tolerated.

Abbottabad: A meeting was held at the Commissioner Hazara Division’s office on Thursday to discuss the proposal for upgrading Lora Tehsil to the status of a sub-division.

The meeting was attended by MPA Rajab Ali Abbasi, Commissioner Hazara Division Fayyaz Ali Shah, Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad Sarmad Saleem Akram, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), Secretary to the Commissioner, and the Assistant Commissioner (Revenue) Hazara.

Participants discussed administrative matters related to Havelian Sub-Division and Lora Tehsil, examined public service issues, and considered the administrative, legal and financial aspects of the proposal to grant sub-division status to Lora.

Commissioner Fayyaz Ali Shah said comprehensive and practical recommendations would be forwarded to the provincial government in the larger public interest. He also directed the Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad to submit the proposed recommendations, Schedule of New Expenditure (SNE), and other relevant documents to the Commissioner’s Office at the earliest so that the case could be processed and forwarded to the provincial government for approval and further decision.

During the visit, WAPDA officials briefed the officers on the overall progress of the project and the security measures in place for the installation and operational activities.

Deputy Commissioner and the DPO directed the relevant authorities to ensure foolproof security for foreign experts, engineers and project staff, enhance surveillance at sensitive locations, strengthen inter-agency coordination, and further improve the effectiveness of joint search operations to maintain a secure working environment.

The visiting officials also inspected the under-construction Ghazi Police Facilitation Centre and instructed the concerned authorities to complete the project within the stipulated timeframe to enable the provision of modern and efficient police services to the public under one roof.

The visit underscored the district administration’s commitment to ensuring the timely completion of key development projects while maintaining robust security arrangements for national infrastructure and public service facilities.

Khyber: At least two people were killed and five others injured in a firing incident that occurred in the Loi Shalman area of Khyber on Thursday, reportedly over a land dispute, according to police quoted by tv channels. .

Initial reports stated that the clash erupted after tensions over a land dispute escalated, resulting in an exchange of fire.

Two people died at the scene, while five others sustained injuries.

Upon receiving information about the incident, police rushed to the site and shifted the deceased and injured to a nearby hospital.

Police have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and identify those responsible.

Larkana: The budget session of the District Council Larkana was held under the Chairman Ijaz Ahmed Laghari, during which the proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2026-27 was presented on Thursday.

The opening balance stands at Rs. 20 crore, 87 lakh, 28 thousand, 125, while the proposed revenue is Rs. 1 billion, 34 crore, 66 lakh, 75 thousand, 200, bringing the total revenue to Rs. 1 billion, 55 crore, 54 lakh, 03 thousand, 325.

The proposed revenue expenditures amount to Rs. 52 crore, 30 lakh, 11 thousand, 634, and development expenditures amount to Rs. 1 billion, 03 crore, 11 lakh, 71 thousand, bringing total expenditures to Rs. 1 billion, 55 crore, 41 lakh, 82 thousand, 634. The annual proposed budget surplus is Rs. 12 lakh, 20 thousand, 691.

District Council Chairman Aijaz Ahmed Laghari said that for the new fiscal year 2026-27, the details of the amount allocated for salaries, pensions, gratuity, and leave encashment are as follows: an amount of Rs. 45 crore, 15 lakh, 56 thousand, 634 has been set aside for employees’ salaries and pensions, etc.

He further said that under the employment schemes, you should complete the proposals so that funds can be allocated for them, enabling the poor to find employment. He further said that through the efforts of Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and MPA Faryal Talpur, funds were allocated for ADP schemes, under which development works have been initiated and will be completed.

He also said that Chingchi rickshaws have been provided to the unemployed in every union council, enabling them to earn a livelihood, and similarly, handcarts will also be given to unemployed youth so they can support themselves. Green belts have been established on all main roads of Larkana District, which has enhanced the city’s beauty, and green belts will also be established in the remaining areas.

He added that a medical center, dispensary, and maternity home are also being constructed in the town of Badah, which will provide health facilities to the local people and residents of surrounding areas, and bulbs and solar lights have also been installed in every union council.

Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Sindh, Buland Khan Junejo, said that under the leadership of Chairman District Council Larkana, Ijaz Ahmed Laghari, excellent work has been carried out, under which unemployed youth have been provided with Chingchi rickshaws and loaders, which have helped improve their households.

During the budget session, Vice Chairman of District Council Larkana, Asadullah Bhutto, said that the various development works carried out during your tenure are commendable, and I congratulate you on them. The public has also praised this step. I would also like to propose that green belts be installed on the roads leading to Qambar-Shahdadkot, which will further enhance the beauty.

During the session, various members presented budget proposals regarding cleanliness, development projects, solar lights, ensuring the provision of solar panels to the poor, and these were unanimously approved.
