Abbottabad: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed visited Mansehra, where he inaugurated modern Police Facilitation Centres in Balakot and Oghi, opened a welfare mess hall at Police Lines Mansehra, and reviewed security arrangements at the Balakot Hydropower Project in Paras, directing police officers to further strengthen protection for Chinese engineers and other foreign nationals.
During his visit, the IGP was received at Police Lines Mansehra with a guard of honour. Accompanied by DIG Hazara Nasir Mahmood Satti, DPO Mansehra Muhammad Azhar Khan and other senior police officers, he inaugurated the facilitation centres equipped with modern public service facilities. He inspected various service counters and said the centres reflected the KP Police’s people-friendly policing vision by providing transparent, efficient and dignified services under one roof, including character certificates, police clearance certificates, tenant registration, foreign nationals’ assistance, lost document reporting and other public services.
The IGP also inaugurated a fully equipped mess hall for police personnel at Police Lines Mansehra and expressed satisfaction over the facilities provided for officers. He said improving the working environment, welfare and quality of life of police personnel was essential for enhancing morale, professionalism and service delivery. He added that KP Police was equally committed to modern infrastructure, technology-driven policing, public-friendly services and the welfare of its personnel. He also launched the monsoon tree plantation campaign by planting a sapling at the Police Lines.
Later, Zulfiqar Hameed visited the Balakot Hydropower Project at Paras, where he inspected security arrangements and met Chinese engineers, project officials and security personnel. He was briefed on ongoing construction activities, security measures and the protection of foreign workers. Inspecting various security points, he directed police officers to further enhance surveillance, conduct regular security audits and ensure strict implementation of the security standard operating procedures issued by the Ministry of Interior.
Speaking on the occasion, the IGP said the Balakot Hydropower Project was a vital initiative for strengthening Pakistan’s energy sector and promoting Pakistan-China cooperation. He said protecting development projects and ensuring foolproof security for Chinese experts and other foreign nationals remained among the top priorities of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police. He assured the Chinese engineers of full cooperation and security, while the Chinese officials expressed satisfaction over the security arrangements and appreciated the professionalism and support of the KP Police.
