Quetta: Chief Minister (CM) Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti has paid glowing tribute to Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider, on his 27th martyrdom anniversary, describing him as a symbol of unmatched courage, valor, and sacrifice in Pakistan’s military history.

In his message shared on social media, Sarfraz Bugti said that despite extremely unfavorable conditions during the Kargil conflict, Captain Sher Khan demonstrated extraordinary bravery, determination, and professional skill. He noted that Sher Khan’s sacrifice represents the highest example of loyalty, duty, and selflessness and will forever remain a guiding light for the nation and the armed forces.

Sarfraz Bugti emphasized that defending the homeland is a sacred duty of every Pakistani, and it is because of the sacrifices of martyrs that Pakistan today stands with dignity, peace, and sovereignty on the world map. He added that the nation will always hold its martyrs in the highest esteem, recognizing their sacrifices as eternal symbols of patriotism, courage, and resilience for future generations.

The Chief Minister said that Sher Khan’s martyrdom reminds us that freedom and sovereignty are never free but are earned through the blood of brave sons of the soil.

He reaffirmed that the Balochistan government and the people of the province will continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with the country’s armed forces against all internal and external threats, ready to make any sacrifice for the defense, security, and stability of Pakistan.

Muzaffargarh: Two girls went missing after leaving their homes in Kot Addu on the pretext of applying for jobs in the Muzaffargarh Police, prompting authorities to launch a search and register a kidnapping case,here on Sunday.

According to the FIR,Mahnoor Bibi and Javeria Bibi,r/of Mauza Chaudhry left their homes on July 1 after informing their families they were traveling to Muzaffargarh to submit applications for police jobs.

The families said the girls had not returned home and all attempts to contact them had failed as both their mobile phones remained switched off.

An FIR was registered at the City Kot Addu police station under Section 365-B of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of Muhammad Naseem Khan,the father of Javeria Bibi and a r/o Lalazar Colony.

The complainant expressed suspicion that the two girls had been abducted by unidentified persons.

Police said they were investigating the case from multiple angles and had launched efforts to trace the missing girls.

Meanwhile,a spokesperson for the Muzaffargarh Police clarified that no recruitment drive was currently underway in the department and that no hiring process was in progress.

Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Irrigation Riaz Khan on Sunday inspected under-construction flood protection walls in the Bishonai area of Buner district.

Speaking at the event, the minister directed officials to accelerate the pace of work to ensure project’s earliest completion.

These walls are built under Flood Protection and Dredging Scheme, specifically designed to safeguard local communities from future flooding.

The minister said that there would be no compromise on quality, ordering department to execute all remaining tasks strictly in line with approved engineering standards, technical specifications, transparency, and accountability.

Rawalpindi: A farewell ceremony was held at Police Lines Headquarters in honor of outgoing City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Mehmood Hamdani.

The ceremony was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations), Senior Superintendent of Police (Investigation), Chief Traffic Officer, divisional SPs, SPs, SDPOs, SHOs, branch heads of the CPO office, and other senior officers.

Upon arrival at Police Lines Headquarters, CPO Syed Khalid Mehmood Hamdani received a warm welcome. The ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran at Constable Altaf Hussain Shaheed Mess.

Speaking on the occasion, police officers paid tribute to CPO Hamdani, acknowledging his exemplary leadership, bravery, and strong decision-making skills during his tenure.

CPO Syed Khalid Mehmood Hamdani, in his address, said that Rawalpindi Police had always remained like a family to him and would continue to hold a special place in his heart.

‘We collectively faced major challenges with courage and determination,’ he said, adding that Rawalpindi Police had consistently made him proud in both crime control and law and order duties.

He stated that, by the grace of Allah Almighty, the crime rate in Rawalpindi had reached its lowest level in history, crediting the hard work and dedication of every officer and constable of the force.

He further said that more than 700 drug traffickers were currently undergoing sentences ranging from five to twenty years in prison due to effective policing.

CPO Hamdani described Rawalpindi Police as a force of capable officers and investigators who had always lived up to expectations.

He also praised the force for its professional handling of cricket matches, major events, and other law and order responsibilities.

Highlighting key achievements of his tenure, he said the establishment of Police Martyrs’ Welfare Filling Stations was among the most significant initiatives, adding that the income generated from these stations would continue to support the families of martyrs and deserving retired personnel.

He expressed gratitude to Rawalpindi Police, citizens, peace committees, trader associations, media, and civil society for their cooperation in achieving various successes during his tenure.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, officers of Rawalpindi Police presented commemorative shields, flowers, and gifts to CPO Syed Khalid Mehmood Hamdani.

Peshawar: Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Sunday termed July 5, 1977, one of the darkest days in Pakistan’s democratic history, saying the overthrow of an elected government on that day undermined the Constitution, democracy and the people’s mandate.

In a statement issued on the occasion, the Governor said July 5 is observed every year as “Black Day” to renew the pledge to uphold democratic values, constitutional supremacy and the people’s right to rule.

He said Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto had provided Pakistan with a unanimous Constitution, a strong foreign policy and awareness of public rights, while military rule had inflicted serious damage on the country’s democratic evolution.

Kundi said the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) had always struggled against dictatorship and rendered countless sacrifices for the restoration and strengthening of democracy.

He said following the assassination of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, President Asif Ali Zardari had raised the historic slogan of “Pakistan Khappay,” while PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was continuing the mission of Shaheed Bhutto by working for constitutional supremacy, democratic stability, public welfare and the protection of democratic values.

The Governor said the day served as a reminder that respect for the Constitution, Parliament and the will of the people was the only guarantee of a stable and prosperous Pakistan.

He paid tribute to Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and all workers who sacrificed their lives for democracy, reaffirming that the PPP would continue its struggle under the leadership of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for constitutional supremacy, democratic stability and the protection of the people’s fundamental rights.

Meanwhile, in a separate message, Governor Kundi paid rich tribute to national hero, Nishan-e-Haider recipient Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed, on his 27th martyrdom anniversary.

He said the brave son of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had laid down his life in defence of the motherland, setting an everlasting example of courage, patriotism, devotion to duty and sacrifice.

The Governor said Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed’s unparalleled bravery had earned recognition and respect not only from the nation but also internationally.

He said the valiant son of Swabi displayed extraordinary courage and steadfastness against the enemy, sacrificing his life in defence of the country and securing an eternal place in the hearts of the nation.

Kundi said the land of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had always produced courageous sons who made the ultimate sacrifice for Pakistan’s sovereignty, security and honour, adding that the nation would never forget the sacrifices of Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed and other martyrs.

He said the anniversary reminded the nation to honour its martyrs, promote national unity and renew its commitment to Pakistan’s defence, security and stability.

Faisalabad: Police have arrested a man for allegedly subjecting his sister-in-law to brutal physical violence after she failed to bring Rs.100 million as dowry,police said on Sunday.

According to a police spokesperson,the accused,Muhammad Bilal,r/o Satiana Road allegedly tortured his sister-in-law, Zahra Fatima over the alleged demand for dowry from her parental family.

Police said acting on a complaint,ASI Farman of the Women Police Station conducted a raid and arrested the accused. Further investigation was underway.

City Police Officer (CPO) Tanveer Hussain said protection of women’s lives, property and legal rights remained a top priority for Faisalabad Police.

He said a zero-tolerance policy was being pursued against violence targeting women and children in line with the vision of the Punjab chief minister,adding that no person involved in domestic abuse or harassment would be allowed to escape the law.

The CPO directed investigating officers to ensure a transparent and merit-based probe to bring the accused to justice, adding that police would continue prompt action to ensure a safe environment for women.
