Dera ismail khan: The district administration and Social Welfare Department have launched a joint anti-beggary operation in various parts of the district.
During the operation launched under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner Dr. Muhammad Hamid Siddique, individuals allegedly involved in professional begging were checked at different locations.
According to the administration 10 professional beggars, including minors, were taken into custody and subsequently expelled from the area.
It added effective measures would continue to discourage professional begging on roads, intersections and other public places.
Special attention would also be given to removing children from begging and providing them with opportunities for education, vocational training and rehabilitation.
Officials said the objective of the campaign was not merely to remove beggars from public places but to eliminate professional begging, rehabilitate deserving individuals and equip them with skills so they could become productive and responsible members of society.
The district administration and Social Welfare Department reaffirmed that the anti-begging campaign would continue, with action taken against professional begging at public places in accordance with the law.
