Ban imposed on sale of open dry milk in Quetta


Quetta: In light of the orders of Balochistan Chief Minister, a ban has been imposed on the sale of open dry milk in Quetta.



An important meeting on Monday was held under the Deputy Commissioner Quetta in this regard, in which the Director Food Authority, District Health Officer (DHO), Drug Inspectors and Assistant Commissioners participated.



It was decided in the meeting that strict action would be taken against the sale of open dry milk in shops and other places under the names of different brands or local brands with pictures of children.



According to the authorities, such open dry milk does not have an expiration date and other necessary information, while its unsafe sale can prove harmful and dangerous for the health of children.



The Deputy Commissioner Quetta strictly warned all shopkeepers to immediately refrain from selling open dry milk, in case open dry milk is recovered from any shop or warehouse, strict action would be taken against the responsible persons, including legal action, arrest and sealing of the shop.



The meeting also decided to impose a complete ban on the sale of open dried milk in medical stores, while medical stores across the city would also be checked, for this purpose, joint teams consisting of the Food Authority Department, Health Department, Drug Inspectors and District Administration have been formed to conduct operations and inspections in different areas.



The Deputy Commissioner Quetta directed the concerned officers that any negligence or sale of substandard goods related to the health of children would not be tolerated and indiscriminate action should be taken against the violators.
