Child Protection Bureau launches ‘Good Touch, Bad Touch’ safety campaign across province

District

Rawalpindi:Home Department and the Child Protection and Welfare Bureau (CPWB) have launched a specialized “Good Touch, Bad Touch” awareness campaign to safeguard children against physical violence, harassment, and sexual exploitation.

Under the initiative, animated mascot characters named ‘Haya’ and ‘Bahadur’ will educate children on distinguishing between safe and inappropriate physical contact, respecting personal boundaries, and reporting uncomfortable encounters to parents or teachers under the central slogan “Ghabrayenge Nahi, Takrayenge.” The campaign’s launch follows recent police actions in Rawalpindi involving reported child harassment cases, underscoring the urgent need for structured protective education in schools, enhanced parental oversight, and age-appropriate awareness covering both in-person and online safety risks.

Child protection experts emphasized that establishing trust-based communication between parents and children is vital so minors feel safe speaking up without fear of repercussions.

CPWB officials reaffirmed that the initiative aims to build self-confidence, self-protection skills, and immediate help-seeking behaviors among young students to foster a secure environment across educational institutions in the province.
