Home Minister for foolproof security arrangements on Chehlum


Karachi: Sindh Home Minister, Ziaul Hasan Lanjar has directed for foolproof security and the best possible administrative arrangements across Sindh on the occasion of the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (a. a. ).



He said that security arrangements for procession routes, Imambargahs, mosques and other sensitive locations should be reviewed afresh.



Lanjar said strict implementation of the Chehlum security plan has been directed, with all law enforcement agencies instructed to remain on high alert.



He said that checking and surveillance at all entry and exit points of the province should be further strengthened.



The Sindh Home Minister said that suspicious individuals and elements must be kept under close watch, and intelligence-based search operations should be made more effective.



All law enforcement agencies should further strengthen coordination and intelligence sharing, he said adding that cleanliness, street lighting and water supply along procession and gathering routes must be ensured.



He said that no negligence in the provision of municipal services during the Chehlum would be tolerated.



Rescue 1122, the Health Department and emergency services must remain on high alert with complete medical facilities and essential equipment, Lanjar directed.



He said that timely availability of ambulances, medical personnel and emergency services along procession routes must be ensured.



A comprehensive traffic management plan and alternative routes should be finalized and communicated to the public in a timely manner for the convenience of citizens, the Minister said adding that traffic flow should be maintained during Chehlum and inconvenience to the public should be kept to a minimum.



He said that all security and administrative measures for Chehlum should be continuously monitored and all relevant institutions must remain fully prepared to respond to any potential threat or emergency situation.



The Minister said that the protection of the lives and property of mourners and all citizens was the top priority of the Government of Sindh.
