Int’l Peace & Sports Conference continues with delegates from 12 countries participating

PESHAWAR:International Peace and Sports Conference-2022 Monday got under way here with delegates from 12 countries across the world are taking part.

Pakistan Sports Writers Federation, Sports Writers Association, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with the collaboration of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority, Director General, Bank of Khyber, AIPS Asia, have jointly organized a four-day International Peace and Sports Conference.

Provincial Minister Taimur Saleem Jhagra, former Provincial Minister Sports Syed Aqil Shah, former IG Syed Akhtar Ali Shah, former IG Malik Naveed Khan, President of Asian Sports Journalists Federation Hee Don Jung from Korea, Niranjan from Nepal, Awad Bin Mubarak from Saudi Arabia, Ramakrihnan Karuppaih from Sri Lanka, Izahar Atan from Malaysia, Eldar Ismayilov from Azerbaijan, Emmanuel Fantanean from Hungary, Anna Szilagyi from Hungary, Nargiz Mahmudzade from Europe, and Delegates from Afghanistan and other countries, Asian Cycling Federation Secretary Syed Azhar Ali Shah, squash legend Qamar Zaman, Chairman KP Tennis Association Prof. Dr. Mohammad Tahir and other important dignities were present on this occasion.

Speaking at the conference, Provincial Minister Taimur Saleem Jhagra said that the infrastructure of sports had been improved.

A lot of Sports opportunities were being provided to the players, to make them able to brighten the name of the country around the world, he added.

He said that by taking drastic steps we could regain our lost glory in hockey and squash.

He further said that it was a proud moment for us that seven of the eleven players in the national team were currently playing from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The development of a supportive culture is essential for Olympic success. On this occasion, he also launched Asia’s first book on the Qatar Football World Cup-2022.

Addressing the conference, Former Provincial Sports Minister Syed Aqil Shah said during our time, we had organized two inter-provincial games and national games under very difficult conditions and sent a message of peace to the world from KP.

Speaking at the ceremony, President of the Asian Sports Journalists Federation Hee Don Jung said “Today in Peshawar a new history has been created by the International Peace and Sports Conference. By sending a message of peace to the world the conference has become one of the most memorable conference sports.”

More than 13 delegates from 12 different countries and more than 200 journalists from all over Pakistan participated in the conference. Senior journalists shared their suggestions for the development of sports thus sending a positive image of Pakistan to the world.

On the first day of the conference, video messages from global and Asian sports journalists were shared in different sessions during the conference.

The journalists and delegates showed great interest in the documentary about FIFA World Cup 2022 Qatar.

Moreover, on the first day of the conference special souvenirs were presented to foreign delegates and journalists in their respect.

They were also given a tour of ancient and historical places of the walled city of Peshawar and District Khyber, including Bala Hisar Fort, Machni Fort, Khyber Rifles, ancient and historical Islamia College of Peshawar, and Sethi House.

Hee Done Jung also lauded Pakistan Sports Writers Federation, Sports Writers Association, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for holding International Peace and Sports Conference-2022 in which not only international journalists but also journalists from across Pakistan, both male and female journalists are taking part.
