Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Transport Department has initiated work on a plan to launch an inter-district BRT-style bus service connecting Peshawar with other districts through the motorway.
According to officials, the proposed service would connect Peshawar with Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi and Charsadda through modern BRT-style buses.
The department has decided to launch a feasibility study soon to determine the proposed routes, estimated project cost and suitable locations for establishing BRT stations.
Officials said operating BRT-style buses on the motorway would be relatively easier than on the GT Road.
The proposed service is expected to provide modern and efficient transport facilities to thousands of daily commuters travelling between Peshawar and adjoining districts.
According to the Transport Department, the overall cost, routes, stations and other technical details would be finalized after completion of the feasibility study.
The primary objective of the proposed inter-district BRT project is to establish a modern, efficient and improved public transport network between Peshawar and other districts.
