Rain continues across Islamabad; ACs deployed, drainage teams respond to complaints

Islamabad: Rain continued in several parts of the federal capital on Wednesday as the district administration intensified monitoring and response measures.

Assistant Commissioners remained in the field on the instructions of the Deputy Commissioner, while sanitation teams were deployed in low-lying areas to ensure smooth drainage and address public complaints, said the spokesman of ICT administration here.

Traffic personnel were also increased in major commercial centres to manage vehicle movement during the rainfall.

According to the district administration, additional sanitation staff have been stationed in areas including Faizabad, Lehtrar Road and Park Road, where water accumulation is being closely monitored. Teams are working continuously to clear rainwater and keep roads open for traffic.

Authorities said that special monitoring of drains is underway across the city, including the E-11 area. Officials are maintaining regular inspections to identify and resolve any issues that may affect the flow of water.

The administration reported that several complaints related to drainage were received and addressed without delay. Field teams responded to multiple cases and cleared affected locations to prevent further inconvenience for residents.

To maintain traffic flow, extra personnel have been deployed in business centres, including G-9 Markaz and other commercial areas. Traffic management measures are being implemented to reduce congestion and support commuters during the rain.

The district administration has also launched a public awareness campaign through announcements in mosques, urging citizens to stay away from drains and water channels during rainfall. Officials warned that approaching drains during heavy rain can pose serious risks.

Residents have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel until weather conditions improve. The administration emphasized that sanitation teams, field officers and emergency staff remain active across Islamabad and are continuing efforts to ensure drainage, public safety and uninterrupted movement in different parts of the city.

The district administration urged citizens to follow safety instructions and immediately report any drainage-related issues to the relevant authorities for prompt action.
