Karachi: The Sindh government has formally inaugurated the second major Sindh e-Sports Championship 2026 here on Monday. The opening ceremony was held at Liaquat Library, with Provincial Minister for Local Government, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah and Sindh Sports Secretary Munawar Ali Mahesar as chief guests.
The event was attended by Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on IT Ali Rashid, Member of Sindh Assembly Saima Agha, Director Sports Asad Ishaq, CEO Troy Fit Ahmer Azam, Dowlens’ Waleed Haris Rana, and other notable personalities.
Speaking at the occasion, the Provincial Minister, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said that empowering youth and providing them with better opportunities in sports, education, technology, and employment is a key part of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s vision.
The Sindh e-Sports Championship is a proud platform for young people to showcase their talents. He added that Nexora’s project ‘The Next Era of Champions’ is an important step toward providing youth with a professional platform.
The Sindh government is offering opportunities for youth to advance not only in traditional sports but also in modern technology and e-Sports.
Syed Nasir Hussain Shah emphasized that e-Sports can play a vital role in highlighting the abilities of young people. More than 1,000 teams from across Sindh are participating, with prize money of Rs 3 million set aside for the winners.
He noted that the championship includes popular games such as PUBG Mobile, Tekken 8, and FC 27, bringing together young members of the e-Sports community.
Qualifying rounds will be held at various universities in Karachi, semi-finals in well-known shopping malls, and the grand final in the first week of October at Expo Center Karachi.
The Minister highlighted that the Sindh government is continuously working to provide modern sports facilities and infrastructure across the province. Various sports events, talent hunt programs, and athlete support initiatives are ongoing.
He further said that under the leadership of Sports Minister Sardar Muhammad Bux Khan Mahar, the Sindh Sports Department is organizing sports activities throughout the year, along with grassroots-level talent hunts and encouragement for skilled players.
During the ceremony, shields were presented to 24 boxers, jujutsu players, and coaches who performed outstandingly at national-level championships.
Syed Nasir Hussain Shah praised their achievements, saying that Sindh’s talented athletes have brought honor to the province at national and international levels.
He concluded that encouraging athletes plays a crucial role in attracting youth toward sports. The efforts of the Sports Department, universities, partners, sponsors, and young gamers are commendable. Together, he said, ‘we can build a platform where youth talent is recognized and given opportunities to grow.
