Multan: Traders of Mobile Plaza have demanded urgent police and municipal action against robbery incidents, poor street lighting, and a failing sewerage system in the area stretching from BCG Chowk to Allah Wasaya Chowk.
The demands were raised at a meeting of the Mobile Plaza Traders Association, held under the chairmanship of Chaudhry Ali Akbar.
Participants said theft and robbery incidents in the market and surrounding areas had
created a sense of fear among traders and residents. They said the absence of street lights at night was giving criminals a free hand and disrupting business activity. The meeting called for increased police patrolling and effective action against criminal elements to protect lives and property of traders.
The participants also expressed serious concern over the poor sewerage system, saying even light rain left roads and markets waterlogged, causing hardship for residents and financial losses for traders.
They urged WASA and other relevant departments to take emergency measures to clean
sewerage lines, improve the drainage system and restore non-functional street lights.
Similarly, the participants called on the district administration, police, WASA and municipal departments to take immediate and practical steps for a permanent solution to civic issues.
Those attending the meeting included General Secretary Muhammad Ali Rana, Senior Vice President Asif Javed Shah Bukhari, Vice President Rana Iftikhar Ali, Joint Secretary Mirza Qamar-ud-Din, Finance Secretary Chaudhry Farooq Aslam, Press Secretary Shah Mir Jahanzeb, Rana Zahid, Rana Rashid, Malik Abdul Ghafar Dogar and Chaudhry Muazzam, besides other office-bearers and traders.
