Quetta: Assistant to Chief Minister Balochistan for Information and Political Affairs Shahid Rind on Tuesday said that the provincial government has taken practical steps to ensure transparency, merit and equal opportunities in government jobs.
He said the recruitment of 19 officers in the Balochistan Revenue Authority (BRA) has been done purely on the basis of merit and no kind of recommendation or pressure has been accepted in this process.
In a statement, Shahid Rind said that Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti has made it clear from day one that government jobs would not be sold and the youth would be given their right only on the basis of merit.
He said that under the same policy, transparent and merit-based recruitments have also been made for 4,500 posts in the Education Department and 111 posts in the Finance Department.
He said that the recent appointments of 19 officers in the BRA are also a continuation of this merit-based policy, the fact that not a single candidate from the home district of the Chief Minister of Balochistan was successful in these appointments is clear evidence that there was no political or administrative interference in the recruitment process.
Shahid Rind said that the aim of the Balochistan government is not just to provide government jobs to the youth but to establish a transparent system in which every youth has an equal opportunity to move forward based on their ability and competence.
He said that merit-based appointments would increase the efficiency of institutions and also restore the confidence of the youth in state institutions.
The Assistant to Chief Minister said that in the past, the impression of recommendation and nepotism created disappointment among the youth, however, the current government is taking practical steps to eliminate this impression.
He said that the government has a clear policy that government employment is not the domain of any individual or family, but the right of qualified and deserving youth.
He said that transparent appointment of qualified and capable officers in an important institution like Balochistan Revenue Authority is also important for the economic and administrative improvement of the province.
Rind said that young officers recruited on merit would play an effective role in the development of the province, improvement in revenue and institutional reforms by utilizing their capabilities.
He said that the Balochistan government is committed to the principles of meritocracy, transparency and good governance and merit would be given top priority in government recruitment in the future as well.
He said that youth are the future of Balochistan and the government is committed to providing them with respectable employment, equal opportunities for development and a conducive environment to showcase their talents.
He said that the supremacy of merit is the foundation of a strong, transparent and talented Balochistan, and the government would not compromise on this principle under any circumstances.
