Hyderabad: Deputy Commissioner, Shaheed Benazirabad Abdul Samad Nizamani, accompanied by Member Sindh Assembly Ghulam Qadir Chandio and Regional Director Special Education Nisar Ahmed Brohi, visited Sakrand to inspect the under-construction building of Special Education and Rehabilitation Centre, as well as Public Library and Public Park.

During the visit, officers of concerned departments briefed delegation on the progress of ongoing development projects, including the pace, quality and overall status of construction work.

Deputy Commissioner directed concerned authorities to ensure that all projects are completed within the stipulated timeframe while maintaining highest construction standards.

He emphasized that any negligence or substandard work in public welfare projects would not be tolerated. Speaking on the occasion, Member Provincial Assembly (MPA), Ghulam Qadir Chandio said that Government of Sindh was taking practical steps to provide better educational, social and recreational facilities to public. He said that Special Education and Rehabilitation Centre would play a vital role in education, training and rehabilitation of persons with disabilities, while modern Public Library and Park would provide valuable learning and recreational opportunities, particularly for youth and children.

Deputy Commissioner relevant officers to ensure timely completion of projects and maintain strict quality standards so that public could benefit from these facilities at the earliest. Among those present on the occasion were Assistant Commissioner Sakrand Rameez Raja, Principal Special Education Centre Abdul Rahim Tanwari, and other concerned officials.

Dera ismail khan: The district administration launched a major operation against water theft from the CRBC Main Canal, removing more than 15 illegal water connections and arresting several suspects during a joint crackdown on Thursday.

The operation was carried out by Assistant Commissioner Dera, Dr. Hameed Siddiq, on the directives of Deputy Commissioner Hikmat Ullah. Officials of the Irrigation Department, WAPDA’s CRBC staff and personnel from Police Station Shorkot also participated in the operation.

During the crackdown, the authorities dismantled over 15 illegal water outlets installed on the canal and arrested several individuals allegedly involved in water theft. The suspects were shifted to Police Station Shorkot for legal proceedings.

The teams also seized equipment allegedly used for illegal water extraction, including petrol pumps, submersible pumps, electric motors and pipelines. Legal action has been initiated against the concerned landowners under the relevant laws.

Speaking on the occasion, Assistant Commissioner Dr. Hameed Siddiq said that water theft from the CRBC Main Canal would not be tolerated under any circumstances. He said operations against those involved would continue without discrimination until every illegal connection was removed, ensuring the fair distribution of canal water and protection of farmers’ rights.

Layyah: Residents of the area have set a remarkable example of community service and commitment to education by converting Government School Chak No. 339 TDA, Layyah, to solar energy through a self-help initiative.

According to school sources, a modern 15-kilowatt solar power system has been installed with the support of prominent social and business figure Chaudhry Aftab Iqbal and other philanthropists. In addition, two air conditioners have been donated for the comfort of students and teachers.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by local residents, teachers, dignitaries and social personalities, who termed the initiative a significant milestone in promoting education and encouraging the efficient use of renewable energy.

Speakers said such welfare initiatives not only help meet the needs of government educational institutions but also strengthen the spirit of cooperation, public service and support for education in society.

The local community paid tribute to all philanthropists who contributed to the project, particularly Chaudhry Aftab Iqbal, and expressed the hope that more well-off individuals would come forward to play a similar role in improving educational institutions.

Sargodha: Commissioner Sargodha Division Hafiz Shoukat Ali on Thursday said that the Punjab government’s ongoing healthcare reforms aimed to provide modern, quality and dignified healthcare services to people at their doorstep.

He expressed these views while chairing the first video-link meeting of the Transition Committee to review initial progress on the upgradation of the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Mianwali into a teaching hospital and the establishment of a medical college in the district.

The meeting was attended via video link by the Special Secretary of the Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department, the Special Secretary of the Health and Population Department, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Health Sciences, the Deputy Commissioner Mianwali, the Chief Executive Officer Health Mianwali and other relevant officials.

Participants reviewed the transition plan, infrastructure requirements, medical equipment, teaching facilities, human resources, faculty, financial and administrative matters, as well as regulatory requirements.

The committee also assigned responsibilities to the concerned departments and agreed on a coordinated strategy to ensure timely completion of all project milestones.

Commissioner directed all departments to work in close coordination and complete their assigned tasks within the stipulated timeline to expedite the project’s implementation.

He said the establishment of a teaching hospital and a medical college in Mianwali would prove to be a major milestone for the district and the region, improving access to specialised healthcare while creating new opportunities for medical education for aspiring students.

The meeting concluded with a decision that the Transition Committee would regularly monitor the project’s progress, while all relevant institutions would maintain close coordination to achieve the set targets and ensure early execution of the initiative.
