Lahore: A meeting chaired by Minister for Local Government Zeeshan Rafique held at the Civil Secretariat reviewed the progress on the Model Village Program, here on Wednesday.
Secretary Local Government Zaid Bin Maqsood, Special Secretary Shahid Zaman Lak and Additional Secretary Mehreen Fahim Abbasi also attended the meeting, while Punjab Rural Municipal Services Company (PRMSC) CEO Khurram Pervez briefed the meeting.
Minister for Local Government Zeeshan Rafique expressed his satisfaction over the 46 percent physical progress in the villages of Lahore division directing the PRMSC to take necessary care of the time-line.
He said that 485 villages of 10 divisions of the Punjab are being made “model” under the vision of ‘Maryam Nawaz’s Sohna (beautiful) Punjab’. “More funds will be provided for this program in the budget of the new fiscal year”, he promised. He said that the availability of quality basic facilities is the right of the rural population, which is being given to them in the form of the Model Village Program. “Insha Allah, the scope of the Model Village Program will be gradually expanded”, he pledged.
The meeting also reviewed the Punjab Rural Sustainable Water Supply and Sanitation Project (PRSWSSP). The Minister for Local Government said that the PRSWSSP has been launched in villages of 16 tehsils of Punjab.
“With the completion of this project, 6 million rural population will get clean water and sanitation facilities”, he revealed.
He said that the pilot project of the PRSWSSP has been completed successfully.
He said that priority was being given to villages in more backward areas in this project.
