Hyderabad: The people of Hyderabad celebrated the 79th independence anniversary with renewed vigour, taking part in rallies, activities in the government and private offices and educational institutions.
The central independence day ceremony was held at Hyderabad Circuit House on Friday morning, organized by the district administration.
The event was marked by patriotic fervour, national spirit and enthusiastic with participation from all segments of society. The ceremony commenced with the national anthem, followed by cake cutting, and hoisting of the national flag, setting the tone for a day dedicated to celebrating the freedom, sacrifices and national aspirations of Pakistan.
Commissioner Hyderabad Division Fayaz Hussain Abbasi, DIG Hyderabad Tariq Razzaq Dharejo, Deputy Commissioner Zain-ul-Abideen Memon, Mayor Kashif Ali Shoro, District Health Officer Dr Pir Ghulam Hussain, all Assistant Commissioners, and officials of various departments as well as, students, teachers and representatives from various walks of life attended the ceremony.
A police band presented a ceremonial salute to the national flag.
Speaking on occasion, the Commissioner said the independence day was not merely a national celebration but a day to reaffirm commitment to Pakistan and to renew the resolve to contribute to its progress and prosperity.
He appreciated the outstanding performances by the students and congratulated them, their teachers and the district administration for organising an impressive program.
Abbassi said the enthusiasm and patriotic spirit demonstrated by the younger generation offered a strong message of hope for Pakistan’s future.
He expressed confidence that through collective efforts, sincere leadership and responsible citizenship, Pakistan would continue its journey towards development and eventually join the ranks of the world’s developed nations.
DIG Dharejo said the day was a reminder of the historic struggle and immense sacrifices made by the nation’s founders and millions of people for the creation and protection of Pakistan.
He added that the armed forces and people of Pakistan had continued to make extraordinary sacrifices for the country’s defence, sovereignty and security since independence.
He paid tribute to the country’s security forces and said the Sindh government and Sindh Police were firmly committed to making the province safer by combating for a crime free Sindh.
The DC Hyderabad Memon expressed gratitude to all district officers, staff members, teachers, students and organisers whose dedicated efforts contributed to the success of the ceremony.
He said witnessing citizens, particularly young people, celebrating the day with happiness, enthusiasm and patriotic spirit was a source of immense satisfaction.
The DC noted that the young generation represented Pakistan’s future and the nation had high hopes for their role in strengthening the country.
Referring to the youth as the ‘Shaheens of Allama Iqbal’, he said they possessed the potential to lead Pakistan towards a stronger and brighter future.
Mayor Khan Shoro said the people and armed forces of Pakistan had rendered immense sacrifices for the country’s freedom, defence and sovereignty.
He paid tribute to the nation’s defenders and prayed for their safety and protection.
He observed that Pakistan’s journey towards strength and stability had also been shaped by the sacrifices of its political and democratic leaders, including former prime ministers and Pakistan Peoples Party’s leaders Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto.
The ceremony featured speeches by students on the significance of the independence day, patriotic national songs and colourful tableaus, which were warmly appreciated by the audience.
A special and impressive karate demonstration was also presented by RKS Academy in collaboration with the District Sports Board.
In recognition of their outstanding performances, shields and certificates of appreciation were distributed among district officers, students and other participants.
The ceremony concluded with prayers for Pakistan’s peace, security, stability, prosperity and continued progress.
