Burewala: The 79th Independence Day of Pakistan was celebrated across the district with national flag-hoisting ceremonies and a series of programmes held at district and tehsil headquarters, government offices, hospitals and other public institutions in Vehari, Burewala and Mailsi.
The participants expressed their love for Pakistan and renewed their resolve to contribute to the country’s progress, prosperity and stability.
In Vehari, the main Independence Day ceremony was held at the District Council Hall, where Deputy Commissioner Khalid Javed Goraya, MPA Mian Saqib Khursheed, DPO Tasawwar Iqbal and former MPA Mian Irfan Daulatana hoisted the national flag. Contingents of the police, Elite Force, Rescue 1122 and Para Force presented a salute on the occasion.
In Burewala, a flag-hoisting ceremony was organised at the Municipal Corporation under the supervision of the tehsil administration. Assistant Commissioner Jawad Hussain Malik, DSP Rana Muhammad Imran Tipu, Members of the National and Provincial Assemblies Syed Sajid Mehdi and Malik Nosher Khan Langrial, and former Members of the National and Provincial Assemblies Chaudhry Nazir Ahmad Arain and Khalid Mahmood Dogar participated in the ceremony.
A separate Independence Day ceremony was also held at Tehsil Headquarters, Burewala, where the national flag was hoisted in the presence of senior government officials, elected representatives, health department officials and members of civil society. The ceremony was attended by Assistant Commissioner Burewala Jawad Hussain Malik, Medical Superintendent Dr Muhammad Imran Tipu, Syed Sajid Mehdi, Nazir Arain, Malik Nosher Langrial and Rana Tahir Karim Deputy District Health Officer (DDHO) Burewala Dr Khalid Maqsood, Dr. Muhammad Anwar, Dr. Azhar Waseem, Dr, Asif Ali, among others.
Independence Day celebrations were also held at Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Burewala and various other government institutions. Participants paid tribute to the sacrifices made by the Muslims of the subcontinent for the creation of Pakistan and recalled the leadership and vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
In Mailsi, Independence Day was also celebrated with flag-hoisting ceremonies, national songs and expressions of national unity. A special ceremony was also held at the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, where participants expressed their commitment to the country’s peace, prosperity and development.
An Independence Day ceremony was also organised at the District Courts Complex. District and Sessions Judge Vehari Muhammad Abbas, along with other judges, hoisted the national flag. The national anthem was played while a smartly turned-out police contingent presented a salute. Judges of the district courts, employees and children also participated in the flag-hoisting ceremony.
Similar ceremonies were held at government offices, hospitals and educational institutions across all three tehsils. Children and citizens carrying national flags raised slogans of ‘Pakistan Zindabad’, while participants expressed their resolve to play their role in promoting the country’s development, prosperity, peace and stability.
The participants reaffirmed their commitment to the principles of unity, faith and discipline and pledged to work with dedication for a peaceful, prosperous and stronger Pakistan.#
