Multan: Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour at the Multan High Court Bar Association and District Bar Association, where lawyers and judicial representatives reaffirmed their commitment to Pakistan’s stability, progress, rule of law and constitutional supremacy.
At the Multan High Court Bar Association, a flag-hoisting ceremony was held under the chairmanship of Bar President Chaudhry Umar Hayat, while General Secretary Fayyaz Hussain Khan Laghari conducted the proceedings. Lahore High Court Multan Bench Judge Mr Justice Khalid Ishaq was the chief guest.
Addressing the ceremony, Justice Khalid Ishaq said independence was a great blessing and called upon the nation to value Pakistan and reflect on its responsibilities towards the country. He said Pakistan was their identity and had given them honour, dignity and recognition, adding that everyone should ask themselves what they had given back to the country.
He stressed that if Pakistan was to be transformed, people must first transform themselves and change their thinking. ‘When we change ourselves, Pakistan will change automatically,’ he said.
Justice Khalid Ishaq appreciated the Multan High Court Bar and its members, saying that he had found the Bar even better than he had heard about it. He described the Multan High Court Bar as a historic and unique Bar and appreciated its cooperation and spirit of tolerance with the Bench.
President Chaudhry Umar Hayat and General Secretary Fayyaz Hussain Khan Laghari said the Bar had always played a positive role in maintaining cordial relations between the Bench and Bar and promoting speedy dispensation of justice. They thanked Justice Khalid Ishaq for attending the Bar and participating in the Independence Day ceremony and presented him bouquet.
Earlier, the national flag was hoisted at the High Court Bar building, followed by special prayers for the security, prosperity and progress of Pakistan. Sweetmeats were also distributed among the participants.
The ceremony was attended by Syed Muhammad Ali Gilani, Mian Abbas Ahmed, Chaudhry Muhammad Ashfaq, Punjab Bar Council members Malik Khan Laghari, Nadeem Kanju and Aziz Khan Pannian, Additional Advocate General Malik Masroor Haider Awan, members of the Executive Committee and a large number of lawyers.
Meanwhile, the District Bar Association Multan also organized an Independence Day flag-hoisting ceremony. Addressing the gathering, President Syeda Bushra Naqvi and General Secretary Malik Saadat Hussain said Pakistan was the primary identity of every citizen and called for playing a proactive role in strengthening and developing the country.
They said Pakistan was created through the efforts of lawyers and the country’s defence and constitutional institutions had also been supported by lawyers. They reaffirmed their commitment to upholding justice, law and the Constitution and continuing their efforts for the stability and progress of Pakistan.
The national flag was hoisted at the District Bar premises and special prayers were offered for Pakistan’s security, stability and prosperity. Sweetmeats were distributed among the participants.
Lahore High Court Multan Bench Judge Mr Justice Khalid Ishaq, Additional Advocate General Malik Masroor Haider Awan, Punjab Bar Council members Malik Khan Laghari, Aziz Khan Pannian, Nadeem Kanju and Rana Ghulam Hussain also participated in the Independence Day flag-hoisting ceremony at the AG Office.
