POS monitoring intensified to boost revenue compliance in Mirpur Division

District

Mirpur: Commissioner Inland Revenue (South Zone) Syed Ansar Ali on Friday directed the Point of Sale (POS) Task Force and departmental IT wing to intensify monitoring of POS systems and resolve technical issues affecting revenue collection on an emergency basis.

He issued the directives while chairing a meeting on POS operations, where he reviewed briefings from circle officers and the POS Task Force and examined a comparative assessment of revenue generated through POS systems by different brands operating in Mirpur, an Inland Revenue Department spokesperson told reporter.

The meeting was informed about technical issues faced by various brands, including disruptions caused by internet outages and persistent POS problems at some outlets. The commissioner ordered round-the-clock monitoring and field presence of the POS Task Force and IT wing, besides directing officers to launch a comprehensive public awareness campaign on POS systems and invoice verification.

He directed all brands and stores to display banners explaining POS procedures and urged consumers to obtain original bills and verify them through the Inland Revenue Department’s Tax Asan App. He further ordered strict action against violations in accordance with law, including sealing of outlets with approval from the competent authority and imposition of substantial fines where warranted, directing field staff to conduct the enforcement and awareness drive across the division.
