Lahore: A proposal to establish a new force under the Excise and Taxation Department has come to light to make the collection of sanitation tax and charges effective across Punjab. According to the documents, it has been recommended to create 305 new posts in the Excise Department for this purpose.
It is proposed to recruit 300 Excise and Taxation Constables of Grade 5 in the proposed force, who will ensure the collection of sanitation charges from about 4.7 million properties across the province. It has been proposed to deploy 7 to 8 constables in each district for collection. According to the official sources, the new force will also be responsible for distributing sanitation charge bills, following up with defaulters and recovering dues. It has been recommended to appoint a director and four deputy directors to supervise the force.
