Quetta: The Anti-Corruption Establishment Balochistan has initiated criminal proceedings into the alleged auction of valuable government assets, vehicles, and heavy machinery of the Irrigation Department at unusually low prices.
The investigation has already led to the arrest of Geologist/Deputy Director Talha Bugti, while raids are underway to apprehend other suspects.
According to sources, serious allegations have surfaced regarding irregularities in the auction process, including undervaluation of assets and potential losses worth millions of rupees to the national exchequer. The Anti-Corruption Establishment has expanded the scope of its inquiry to determine the role of officials and staff involved in the process.
Investigators are examining whether the auction prices were set far below the actual value of vehicles and machinery, and what role departmental officers played in the matter. Initial inquiries, conducted by Deputy Directors of Investigation Fareed Sakhi and Sheikh Munir Mandokhail, reviewed
official records, auction procedures, asset valuations, and the involvement of relevant officials.
Following the emergence of preliminary evidence, the case was formally registered, and further investigation has been assigned to Investigation Officer Aziz Ahmed. Authorities are scrutinizing auction advertisements, bidding processes, successful bidders, and the funds deposited into the treasury.
The inquiry also seeks to establish whether any individuals or groups were unlawfully favored during the auction, and whether officials adhered to government rules and their legal responsibilities.
Sources confirmed that the investigation is not limited to one individual but encompasses the entire auction process within the Irrigation Department. Official documents, committee records, valuation reports, and bidder information are all under review.
The Anti-Corruption Establishment has declared that the matter has gained significant importance, with further arrests expected as the probe advances. Final responsibilit
y will be determined once the investigation concludes and evidence is presented before the relevant legal forum.
