Commissioner Lasbela division chairs meeting on Hub master plan, reviews progress of key development projects


Quetta: Commissioner Lasbela Division Saira Atta presided over a high-level meeting on the Hub Master Plan, emphasizing modernization, provision of civic facilities, and timely completion of ongoing projects.



During the session, Deputy Commissioner Jumdad Mandokhail and Project Director Arbab Ayub Kasi briefed the Commissioner on the progress of the master plan. Officials highlighted that the plan envisions 30 percent of the area for industrial use and 70 percent for urban and agricultural zones.



Commissioner Saira Atta stressed that the Hub Master Plan is a vital initiative for modernization and must not be halted under any circumstances. She announced that she would personally monitor the physical and financial progress of projects, insisting that development should be visible on the ground rather than confined to multimedia presentations. She also directed that no demolition or disruption should occur until funds are released according to project requirements.



The briefing revealed that Phase One of the master plan includes six projects, with Rs 14 crore allocated this year against a total cost of Rs 6 billion. Planned developments include a modern bus terminal, an entry gate for Hub City, and green areas. Work is also underway on the DC Complex and Officer Colony, with 40 percent physical and 32 percent financial progress reported for the DC Complex, and 30 percent physical and 20 percent financial progress for the Officer Colony.



Further updates included drainage and sewerage projects along a five-kilometer stretch of the RCD Highway, with one kilometer of sewerage line and 100 meters of drainage line already completed. Service corridors are being designed on both sides in the style of Bahria Town, while underground electric cabling is being installed to meet future needs.



The plan also incorporates water supply upgradation, link roads, and the construction of a modern sports complex at Jam Ghulam Qadir Stadium. Upcoming works include a bus stand, gym, and park for women along the RCD Highway. Upon completion, facilities at Allahabad Town and Jam Ghulam Qadir Complex will be handed over to the Sports Department.



Commissioner Saira Atta directed joint coordination meetings with Sui Gas and K-Electric officials to ensure smooth execution of service road construction. She reiterated that project completion by June 2026 depends on timely fund releases.



The meeting was attended by DIG Lasbela Range Abdul Qayoom Patafi, SSPs of Lasbela and Hub, the Chairman Municipal Committee, engineers, and representatives of the consultant firm.
