Lahore: Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi on Friday felicitated the people of Pakistan and Lahore on the occasion of the 80th Independence Day and urged citizens, particularly youngsters, to celebrate the national day while strictly observing traffic laws.
In his message, the CTO said the nation expressed its love and devotion to the homeland on Independence Day, adding that Lahore Traffic Police paid tribute to the martyrs who rendered sacrifices for the country.
He said the people of Pakistan were blessed with an independent state after the unparalleled sacrifices of their forefathers, adding that no sacrifice would be spared for the development and prosperity of Pakistan.
The CTO urged citizens to completely refrain from dangerous activities including one-wheeling, drifting, overspeeding and other hazardous stunts during Independence Day celebrations.
He said one-wheeling, drifting and dangerous stunts were not only life-threatening but also constituted violations of the law.
He called upon the youth to celebrate Independence Day responsibly and comply with traffic rules, warning that even a moment of negligence could result in the loss of precious human lives.
Abdul Rahim Shirazi said it was the collective responsibility of all citizens to make Independence Day celebrations safe, peaceful and enjoyable, while demonstrating their commitment to Pakistan by following traffic laws.
