Lahore: Shaikh Zayed Hospital Lahore celebrated Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day with a flag-hoisting ceremony, while a literary and cultural event was also organized as part of the celebrations.
Chairperson and Dean, Shaikh Zayed Postgraduate Medical Institute Lahore, Prof. Dr. Ayesha Humayun, Executive Director Shaikh Zayed Hospital Dr. Muhammad Hatif Iqbal, Prof. Dr. Nasreen Ehsan, Prof. Syed Wasif Ali Shah, Prof. Muhammad Ali Sheikh, Dr. Aqeel and Dr. Lubna Riaz, along with faculty members, administrative officers and employees, attended the flag-hoisting ceremony.
Prof. Dr. Ayesha Humayun hoisted the national flag, followed by the national anthem. National songs and other performances were also presented on the occasion.
Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Ayesha Humayun said Independence Day was a reminder of the sacrifices and struggle of the nation’s forefathers, urging everyone to fulfil their national responsibilities with dedication and commitment.
She said practical measures were being taken to improve Shaikh Zayed Hospital Lahore, enhance healthcare services and strengthen the institution’s role in serving the public.
Meanwhile, the Khalifa Literary Society of Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Medical and Dental College Lahore organized a literary and cultural event titled ‘Amanat-e-Raftgaan, Ahad-e-Farda’ on August 13 as part of the Independence Day celebrations.
Former Vice Chancellor of the University of Health Sciences Lahore and former Provincial Minister for Health Punjab, Prof. Dr. Javed Akram, was the chief guest.
The event featured speeches, poetry, a thematic performance and a painting competition titled ‘Rang-o-Naqsh-e-Pakistan,’ in which students participated enthusiastically.
Through their literary and artistic expressions, the participants highlighted Pakistan’s history, the sacrifices made during the independence struggle and their aspirations for the country’s future.
A large number of administrative officers, faculty members, doctors, nurses and students attended the event. Speakers stressed the importance of acquainting the younger generation with Pakistan’s history and inspiring them to play their role in the country’s development and progress.
The celebrations concluded with a special prayer for the security, stability, progress and prosperity of Pakistan.
