PRA reaffirms commitment to transparent revenue system on Independence Day


Lahore: A special flag-hoisting ceremony was held at the headquarters of the Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) on Friday to mark the 80th Independence Day of Pakistan, with Chairman PRA Moazzam Iqbal Sipra attending as the chief guest.



The ceremony was attended by PRA officers and employees, while Chairman Moazzam Iqbal Sipra also cut the Independence Day cake along with the participants. Addressing the ceremony, the chairman said Independence Day reminded the nation of the countless sacrifices and struggles rendered by its forefathers for the creation of Pakistan.



He called upon citizens to perform their responsibilities with honesty and a sense of responsibility to contribute to the country’s development, prosperity and stability. He said the PRA was taking effective measures to create awareness among the public and business community about the importance of tax payment, adding that timely and accurate payment of taxes played a vital role in completion of public welfare and development projects.



Moazzam Iqbal said, on the directions of the Punjab Chief Minister, the provincial revenue system was being further strengthened and made more effective, transparent and public-friendly to contribute to a strong, prosperous and developed Punjab.



He urged citizens to not only pay their taxes on time but also play their role in ensuring the proper protection and utilisation of tax revenue. He said the timely completion of ongoing welfare and development projects in Punjab was made possible through taxes paid by the people. Later, PRA enforcement officers held an awareness walk to highlight the importance of tax payment and responsible contribution towards provincial development.
