Lahore: Brigadier Muhammad Rizwan Khan on Friday assumed command as the new Director General of the Punjab Counter Narcotics Force (CNF), succeeding Brigadier Mazhar Iqbal, who completed his two-year tenure as the force’s first commander.
A formal change-of-command ceremony was held at the Punjab CNF, attended by Secretary Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Muhammad Masood Mukhtar and other senior officials.
Participants paid tribute to Brigadier Mazhar Iqbal for his services and key role in making the Counter Narcotics Force an active and effective institution.
During his tenure, Brig Mazhar played a key role in establishing a strong institutional structure for the force, enhancing its capacity and improving operational capabilities. Effective anti-narcotics operations were carried out simultaneously across all districts of Punjab.
He also initiated awareness seminars at educational institutions to protect the younger generation from the menace of drugs and engaged students as voluntary ambassadors to spread awareness about the harmful effects of narcotics.
Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Secretary Muhammad Masood Mukhtar said the change of command marked the beginning of a new phase of institutional continuity and professional leadership in the CNF.
He said the force would further intensify its operations to eliminate drugs from the province and protect the younger generation, adding that the campaign against narcotics would continue until the menace was eradicated.
He expressed the hope that Brigadier Muhammad Rizwan would continue and further strengthen the ongoing efforts against drugs to achieve the mission of a drug-free, healthy and safe Punjab.
