Multan: A flag-hoisting ceremony was held by the Municipal Committee Shujabad on Friday to mark Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day with national spirit and enthusiasm.
Assistant Commissioner Shujabad Dr Sana Ram Chand presided over the ceremony, which was attended by DSP Shujabad Zia Ullah, Chief Officer Municipal Committee Farukh Adnan, office-bearers and members of the Traders Association, media representatives, officers and officials, local notables and a large number of citizens.
The ceremony began with the hoisting of the national flag, followed by the national anthem and cake-cutting. Special prayers were also offered for the security, stability, development and prosperity of Pakistan.
Addressing the gathering, Assistant Commissioner Dr Sana Ram Chand said independence was a great blessing and its appreciation and protection was a collective responsibility. She urged citizens to contribute to the country’s progress and prosperity by upholding unity, discipline and national spirit.
The participation of traders, media representatives, civil society and citizens reflected a strong spirit of unity and patriotism. The ceremony concluded with enthusiastic chants of ‘Pakistan Zindabad,’ adding to the national fervour.
