Independence day ceremony held in Kohati church


Peshawar: Christina community of provincial metropolis on Friday arranged a ceremony in historic All Saints Church Kohati to to mark Pakistan’s Independence Day.



National flag was hoisted and cake cutting event was held to celebrate Independence Day.



The ceremony featured a national flag-hoisting ceremony, while a special cake was also cut to celebrate the occasion. Bishop of Peshawar Alwin John Samuel and Kohati Church Priest Shahzad Murad led special prayers for the security, stability, prosperity and progress of Pakistan.



Chairman of Minority Parliamentary Committee and Member Provincial Assembly Askar Parvez, Peshawar SP City Adnan Shahid and SHO Muhammad Bilal also attended the ceremony.



Speaking on the occasion, Bishop Alwin John Samuel and Priest Shahzad Murad thanked the guests for attending the independence day celebrations. They said that the Christian community would continue to play its role in strengthening and promoting stability of Pakistan and would not hesitate to make any sacrifice for the motherland.



They reaffirmed commitment to promote religious harmony, unity and brotherhood in KP and said that Christian community enjoys religious freedom in the country and would continue efforts for peace, harmony and national unity.
