Faisalabad: The 80th Independence Day of Pakistan was celebrated at Lyallpur Museum here on Friday with patriotic fervour and a renewed commitment to preserving the country’s history, culture and traditions.
Director Lyallpur Museum Maqbool Malik cut a cake at a dignified ceremony. Mr and Mrs Nasir, Museum Officer Shehnaz Mahmood, Sidra Shah, Nabeela Tabassum, Sajid Sattar, museum officers, staff members and others were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the participants, Director Lyallpur Museum Maqbool Malik described independence as a great national blessing and stressed that its significance should not be confined to festivities alone.
He said Pakistan’s history, culture and traditions constituted an integral part of the nation’s identity, adding that preserving this heritage and transmitting it to future generations was a shared responsibility.
Mr and Mrs Nasir said independence was a message of happiness, love and unity for the nation.
They said Pakistanis should take pride in the country’s natural beauty, cultural heritage and traditions while playing their role in making the country stronger, more prosperous and united.
Other speakers said the real strength of Pakistan lay in its cultural diversity, historical continuity and national unity. Independence Day provided an opportunity to understand the country’s past, improve the present and assume a constructive role in shaping a better future, they added.
The ceremony also highlighted the role of museums and cultural institutions in preserving the nation’s collective memory and connecting younger generations with their historical and cultural roots.
Later, special prayers were offered for the security, progress and prosperity of Pakistan. The participants expressed their patriotic spirit by raising slogans of ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ and joining in the Independence Day celebrations.
