Lahore: Lahore General Hospital (LGH) celebrated the 79th Independence Day with national fervour and patriotic spirit through a flag-hoisting ceremony. Principal Ameeruddin Medical College Prof. Dr. Farooq Afzal and MS LGH Prof. Dr. Faryad Hussain jointly hoisted the national flag in the presence of faculty members, doctors, nurses, students and health professionals. Participants chanted national slogans, paid tribute to Pakistan Army personnel defending the country’s borders, while students of AMC, Nursing College and School of Allied Health Sciences presented patriotic songs and waved national flags.
Addressing the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Farooq Afzal said Pakistan was achieved after millions of sacrifices and urged the younger generation to follow Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s principles of Faith, Unity and Discipline. He said serving patients with honesty, dedication and hard work was a form of national service, adding that improving the health sector was also an expression of true patriotism.
Prof. Dr. Faryad Hussain said medical professionals must serve suffering humanity with greater dedication, describing better care of every patient as a national responsibility.
At the conclusion, shields and certificates of appreciation were distributed among 120 employees of PGMI, AMC and LGH in recognition of their outstanding performance. An Independence Day cake was also cut, while special prayers were offered for the security, progress and prosperity of Pakistan and the success of the Pakistan Army. The participants reaffirmed their resolve to perform their professional duties with dedication and contribute to the development and prosperity of the country.
