Hyderabad: A colourful ceremony to celebrate the country’s 79th independence anniversary was organized at the head office of Sindh Irrigation and Drainage Authority (SIDA) on Thursday night.
As the clock struck 12 midnight, fireworks lit up the skies over the office of SIDA where the Sindh Irrigation Minister Jam Khan Shoro, who cut the cake, was also present. Speaking on the occasion, the provincial minister observed that the celebratory events were also meant to renew spirit of patriotism and national unity among the people.
Shoro said the enemy country after losing war against Pakistan was currently trying to weaken Pakistan internally by sponsoring subversive activities. However, he was confident that the nation, its armed forces and law enforcement agencies would fail such conspiracies. The minister said efforts were underway to make Pakistan a strong and economically developed country.
He urged the people to play their vital part in that effort. Shoro said Pakistan Peoples Party’s Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was carrying forward the mission of former Prime Minister and PPP’s founder Chairman Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. The officers of SIDA, representatives of farmers and other notable citizens attended the ceremony.
