Peshawar: A simple and impressive ceremony was held in Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines Peshawar to celebrate 79 years of independence.
During the ceremony, Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa hoisted the national flag and a smartly turned-out police contingent presented guard of honor. Special prayers were also offered for the progress, security and stability of Pakistan.
In his special message on the occasion, IGP Zulfiqar Hamid said that Independence Day was a day to renew the national pledge to tirelessly work for country’s development and progress.
Addressing citizens, he urged them to celebrate Independence Day with full enthusiasm while ensuring safety and responsibility.
He said that the brave and gallant personnel of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police were deployed on roads and performing their duties to protect the lives and property of the people.
The IGP further said that the sacrifices of police martyrs were clear evidence that they would not hesitate to make any sacrifice for the protection of the country.
Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Dr Mian Saeed Ahmed, Chief Traffic Officer Dr Zahidullah, SSP Operations Farhan Khan, SSP Investigation, Commandant Campus Mujeebur Rehman and other divisional SPs also attended the ceremony.
To mark the occasion, all police stations, police vehicles and government offices across Peshawar were decorated with national flags highlighting the spirit of patriotism and national unity.
