Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister(CM), Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that the provincial government was working to complete maximum public projects in the minimum possible time. She directed members of the Punjab Assembly to maintain strong contact with the people and actively work for resolution of their problems.

She expressed these views during a meeting with members of the Punjab Assembly from Okara, who called on her and discussed the political situation, development projects and public issues relating to their constituencies, here on Tuesday. Provincial Minister Ashiq Hussain Shah, Javed Alauddin Sajid, Chaudhry Iftikhar Hussain Chhachhar, Noor-ul-Amin Wattoo, Ali Abbas, Mian Yawar Zaman, Mian Muhammad Munir and Ghulam Raza attended the meeting.

The lawmakers apprised the chief minister of public issues and development needs in their constituencies, while Maryam Nawaz assured them of all possible measures for their resolution.

The MPAs appreciated the chief minister for establishing an integrated Safe City network in 41 districts and two tehsils and expressed gratitude for the construction and rehabilitation of the Okara bypass from GT Road.

They also thanked Maryam Nawaz for launching electric bus services for Okara citizens, saying the buses were operating from the General Bus Stand to Akhtarabad, Karmana Wala, Adda Kissan and Okara University.

They particularly appreciated free travel facilities for students, women and senior citizens. The lawmakers said the Safe City system and police measures were contributing to a gradual decline in crime across Punjab.

They described the Electric Bus, Apni Chhat Apna Ghar and Kissan Card initiatives as popular public-oriented projects, saying Punjab was moving towards better development under the leadership of Maryam Nawaz.

The CM said, for the first time, all cities and villages of the province were being cleaned on an equal basis under the Suthra Punjab programme. She said reports of improvement in the quality of life of Punjab’s people were a source of great satisfaction.
