Lahore: The Lahore Arts Council (Alhamra) celebrated Pakistan’s 79th year of Independence Day on Friday with a flag-hoisting ceremony,freedom walk, and patriotic performances, reflecting national pride and unity.
The ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by the hoisting of the national flag by Lahore Arts Council Executive Director Muhammad Nawaz Gondal in the presence of Deputy Director Administration Syed Umair Hassan, Deputy Director Archives Muhammad Arif, Deputy Director Programmes Waseem Akram, officers, employees, artists and visitors.
The participants later took part in a Freedom Walk, carrying national flags and raising slogans of ‘Pakistan Zindabad’. The walk reflected the spirit of patriotism and reaffirmed their commitment to the country’s progress and prosperity.
The Alhamra Band added a vibrant cultural touch to the celebrations by performing the national anthem and patriotic melodies, creating an atmosphere of national pride and emotional attachment to the homeland.
Speaking on the occasion, Muhammad Nawaz Gondal said freedom was the nation’s greatest inheritance as well as a shared responsibility. He said Alhamra would continue to utilize the power of art and culture to strengthen national pride, inspire youth and contribute to a united, creative and confident Pakistan.
The celebrations concluded with special prayers for Pakistan’s peace, prosperity, stability and continued progress. The event also reaffirmed Alhamra’s role in promoting national identity, cultural values and the spirit of unity through the arts.
