Quetta: Secretary Local Government and Rural Development Department Balochistan Abdul Rauf Baloch chaired a comprehensive meeting reviewing the department’s overall performance, administrative affairs, workforce, development projects, and future priorities.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Local Government Board Shujaat Ali Baloch, Chief Officer Metropolitan Corporation Quetta Nazar Zehri, Focal Person Taha Junaid, and other senior officials. DIGs and Commissioners from various districts also joined via video link.
During the session, officials finalized a departmental presentation for the Chief Secretary’s office, covering past achievements, current targets, and future goals. The review included PSDP and Non-PSDP projects completed in the last fiscal year, ongoing schemes, and administrative reforms.
Briefings were given on vacant posts, grade-wise workforce, recruitment and promotion slots, as well as the department’s presence across districts and subdivisions. Details of active and inactive offices, government-owned and rented premises, and staff housing facilities were also examined, with proposals to improve residential amenities for officers.
The meeting further discussed cases related to the creation of new districts, subdivisions, and divisions, outlining requirements for staffing, infrastructure, office buildings, and housing. Financial priorities, budget utilization, and progress of ongoing projects were also reviewed, with directives to ensure timely completion, transparent use of funds, and achievement of set targets.
A presentation highlighted key departmental successes between March 2024 and June 2026, including development and non-development initiatives, institutional improvements, administrative reforms, and enhanced public service delivery.
Addressing the meeting, Secretary Abdul Rauf Baloch emphasized that the department plays a vital role in delivering basic facilities at the grassroots level and strengthening the local government system. He directed officials to uphold merit, transparency, effective monitoring, and efficient resource utilization, ensuring equal opportunities for capable human resources.
He instructed all wings and sections to keep their performance records, targets, budgets, workforce data, and project details fully updated, enabling accurate evaluation of departmental progress. He also urged stronger coordination among all sections and full cooperation with the Chief Secretary’s office in preparing required presentations and reports.
Abdul Rauf Baloch called on officers to discharge their duties with professional competence, responsibility, and a spirit of public service, ensuring practical measures to further improve the department’s performance and service delivery across Balochistan.
